When you preach grace boldly and grace only, sometimes the fleshly, human or religious response is: If you say it like this, people will go out and sin. My suggestion is not to be tempted into useless discussion about how or what should or shouldn’t be preached. Rather immediately get practical.

We absolutely want the same?! We want people to live holy lives. We don’t want people to keep on living sinful lifestyles. Sin still has deadly effect on our beings, so we rather break the power of it. The reality is that under all other kind of preaching most of us were already sinning. And there is only one way to get out: the preaching of the gospel of grace.

Romans 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Yeah, we do want the same! We only believe in a different route to get there. And since we’re on the subject, we have to be honest: Any other route is a dead end road. Preaching ‘you have to live holy’ (being put under law), might lead to adjustment of outward behavior. While the consistent preaching of a gracious God, shown in the finished work of Jesus (being put under grace), leads to inward and lasting transformation.
